Ed.Buu.participate Vocational Network

Assoc.Prof.Dr.Montree Yamkasikorn , Dean, Faculty of Education and Dr.Pichan Sawangwong , Vice-President for International Relations participate with Regional Co-operation Forum Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET)

South East Asia during 13-14 March 2008 at Tongi University, Shanghai, P.R.China. The concluding the first regional co-operation forum held on March 13 and 14, 2008 the parties involved, i. e. founding participants, special guest, and initial supporter, have achieved interim results and decided to strive for the following further arrangements which are submitted to the consent of their delegating head organizations.

The parties of this forum envisage to establish and maintain a platform of co-operation in vocational education and training thus finding individual interests of contribution and participation with regard to the generation of synergies of co-operation within a time perspective until August 2010.

In this way the participants intend

  • to contribute to a sustainable installation and improvement of relevant vocational education and training systems
  • to mutually support the development of a country specific approach to a sustainable system of vocational education and training with regard to the labour market and work processes
  • to carry out joint research about effective and efficient models of co-operative training with private employers
  • to organize common research and to develop special models of interaction with regard to training and internship of teachers, trainers, and tutors

Furthermore, the participants agreed upon to collaborate on the following topics:

  • establishment and maintenance of quality management systems on TVET
  • development and dissemination of modules of web–based e-learning and blended-learning approaches in TVET for teachers
  • identification and introduction of occupational standards and testing methods
The foundation participants consented to transfer the lead role of regional co-ordination and administration to the Institute of Vocational Training (IBB).

The participants approved to set up a steering committee within the next six months related to communication and co-ordination between the delegating institutions in all countries. This measure ensures the determination and consideration of interests and contributions fostering an intensive exchange of information, data, and communication between all co-operating institutions.

The steering committee consists of five partner institutions:
  • Institute of Vocational Instructor Education, Tongji University - IBB
  • Faculty of Engineering, National University of Laos - NUOL
  • Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi – RMUTT
  • Burapha University Chonburi - BUU
  • Selected universities from the Socialist Republic of Vietnam are still to be nominated

Based on these Minutes of Discussion the participants consider fulfillment of the following indicators measure of successful achievement of this international co-operation network.
